Our Leadership Team

The Awakening's staff, made up of both full-time and volunteer members, is a team is committed to serving Jesus Christ, this generation, and every person we come into contact with.

  • In 2009, Max and Jessica launched The Awakening with the mission to assist youth and young adults with getting involved in what God is doing around the world. They have already ministered in more than 40 different nations, lead diverse missions efforts, mentor and develop leaders around the world, and intentionally invest in the next generation. Max and Jessica live in Edmond, Oklahoma with their children, and are members of River of Life church. 

  • Madeline Nix

    Coordinator of Operations

    Madeline has a heart for missions and has led several teams around the world. With a masters in theology, she is gifted both in leading worship and speaking. Maddie has a heart to see youth and young adults discover the grace of Jesus Christ. She is originally from Mississippi, but her heart is at home abroad. Madeline has served with The Awakening since 2010.

  • Seth Nix

    Coordinator of Mobilization

    Seth is a gifted worship leader and song writer, and is a member of The Awakening Band. Worship is what is in his heart and he loves to see youth and young adults embrace the love of God through lyrics and music. Seth wants to take his gifts and talents to unreached people groups of the world through pioneering new missions work in places that have not yet been reached. Seth has served with The Awakening since 2010.

  • Betsy Salazar

    Coordinator of Teams & International Relations

    Betsy, a Southwestern Christian University graduate with a degree in Intercultural Studies, grew up as a missionary child in Brussels, Belgium where she developed a passion and heart for Jesus and for the lost. She joined The Awakening in 2015 where her multilingual capability has allowed her to not only serve as a translator on countless mission teams, but has also given her the ability to build relationships across linguistic boundaries.

  • Whitney Browning

    Coordinator of Public Relations and Communication

    Whitney was born and raised in West Virginia before graduating from Bluefield College in Virginia with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication. Combining her passion to see God glorified worldwide and her experience in communication, she joined The Awakening in 2018 as the Coordinator of Public Relations and Communication. Whitney is excited to see the Kingdom of God continue to come alive in the hearts of young leaders.

  • Javi Farias

    Coordinator of Media

    Javi was born and raised in Santiago de Chile and over the years served in different capacities at the Evangelical Cathedral of Chile. On top of his engineering degree he is now pursuing a Masters in Theology at Southwestern Christian University. In 2016 after a summer internship with The Awakening, he started serving our global team as coordinator of Media. 

  • Mariah Lumpkin

    Administrative Assistant to the Director

    Mariah grew up in Oklahoma City in and has been involved in church and worship most of her life. A recent graduate of Southwestern Christian University, and of the Victory School of Leadership. She first joined The Awakening in 2016 as an intern and made the jump to our staff in 2018. 

  • Kalie Richardson

    Oklahoma Internships Team

    Kalie grew up in South Carolina in a family of pastors and educators. A recent graduate of Emmanuel College, she now teaches 1st grade at Oklahoma Christian School. With a passion for children and missions, her heart's desire is to pour into the next generation of world changers, seeing their full potential in Christ being realized.

  • Krisztina Révész

    International Base Team Leader (Hungary)

    Krisztina was born in Hungary, and has been serving there with IPHC since 2008. After servingfor years with the local IPHC congregation in Szigetszentmiklós and with missionaries Dave and Linda Fannin, she started focusing on reaching and discipling people in new areas. Over the last 6 years she has been working closely with The Awakening in multiple projects (Euroquest, Emerging Leaders Summit, teams) and now she has joined our team full time as she serves as Leader for The Awakening International Base!

  • Janene Wooten

    International Base Staff

    Janene is a graduate of Emmanuel College with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Biblical Studies. Growing up in Kenya, East Africa as a missionary kid instilled in her a heart and passion to serve people, experience new cultures, and see the nations know and worship the Lord. She is a worship leader and lives to see music break through cultural barriers to touch people from all over the world.Janene is humbled and honored to be a part of reaching the global community for the Kingdom of God.


  • Allison Jones

    International Base Staff

    Allison is a graduate from Southwestern Christian University with a Bachelor's Degree in Intercultural Studies. She felt a tug on her heart for missions as a child and heard the call solidified at the age of 18 after she went on a missions trip to Dublin, Ireland where her heart has stayed since. She longs to see the people of Europe healed from their broken spirits and return to their Christian roots. As an intern, Allison went on multiple short term trips, including trips to Costa Rica, Hungary, and Mexico. Allison currently serves on The Awakening's staff at their International Base in Hungary, not only changing lives, but changing the culture for the glory of God.

  • Josh Hafner

    Emmanuel College Team Leader

    Josh graduated from Emmanuel College in 2015 with a Bachelors of Science in Christian Ministries. In 2018, he joined The Awakening Staff at Emmanuel excited to have an opportunity to mentor college students in a larger capacity. Josh passionately loves people from all nations, which is the heartbeat of the gospel, and wants to see young people fulfill God’s plan for their lives. He has a heart to disciple the next generation and see them flourish where God leads them, both at Emmanuel College and in the seasons beyond.

  • Ashlee Hafner

    Emmanuel College Team Leader

    Ashlee, an Emmanuel College graduate with a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, has the desire to see the next generation find their purpose and walk in their God-given destinies. As a worship leader and a mentor with a heart for worship and discipleship, she desires to see the students on Emmanuel’s campus ignited for what the Lord is doing around the world and help them figure out how they can be a part. Ashlee was a part of the Awakening’s Summer Internship in 2015 but joined The Awakening Staff in 2018 to be a leader for the Traditional Internship at Emmanuel College.


  • Jon Campbell

    Emmanuel College Staff

    Jon is an Emmanuel College graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a minor in Christian Ministries. Currently, Jon is completing his Masters of Divinity at Regent University with a concentration in Marketplace Ministry, serving full-time as the Director of Residence Life and as a Residence Director for Emmanuel College, and, since 2018, has served as part of The Awakening's EC internship staff. Jon desires to see authentic discipleship happen all over the world through creating and leveraging alternative approaches to Christ-centered community. He loves music, coffee, and skateboarding, and hopes to see these and other interests turn into boundary breaking platforms for the gospel.

  • Erica Campbell

    Emmanuel College Staff

    Erica is a graduate from Emmanuel College with a Bachelor’s degree in Christian Ministries. Alongside a God-given burden for missions, she has always had a heart for young women and a passion to disciple and mentor others on their journey with Jesus Christ. Erica has a desire to pour into the lives of the next generation and help them as they develop compassion for the nations. Erica joined The Awakening in 2018 as part of the Emmanuel College internship staff.
