Our Leadership Team

The Awakening's staff, made up of both full-time and volunteer members, is a team is committed to serving Jesus Christ, this generation, and every person we come into contact with.

  • Madeline Nix

    Director OF THE AWAKENING

    In the Summer of 2012 Madeline went on her first mission trip with the Awakening and has not stopped going since! She has ministered in over 30 different nations leading mission trips, mentoring young emerging leaders, and intentionally investing in the next generation. Madeline is an ordained minister in the Mississippi Conference with a Masters of Arts in Theological Studies. 

  • Betsy Salazar Hope 

    Coordinator of operations

    Betsy grew up as a missionary child in Brussels, Belgium where she had a first-hand encounter with missions. There, she developed a burden to do whatever it takes to see Jesus glorified on this earth. She joined The Awakening in 2014 where her multilingual capability has allowed her to plan and lead countless mission teams. Betsy and her husband Adam reside in OKC where she also serves as the youth pastor at her local church as a licensed minister of the Heartland Conference.

  • Seth Nix

    Project specialist

    Seth is a gifted worship leader and song writer, and is a member of The Awakening Band. Worship is what is in his heart and he loves to see youth and young adults embrace the love of God through lyrics and music. Seth wants to take his gifts and talents to unreached people groups of the world through pioneering new missions work in places that have not yet been reached. Seth has served with The Awakening since 2010.

  • Jon and erica Campbell

    INTERNATIONAL BASE - Los Angeles, Ca - (CAREER MISSIONARIES) 

    As co-laborers for the gospel, Jon and Erica feel burdened to serve Jesus by helping connect his Church to her priority mission: namely, to make disciples of every nation. Whether in Western or Majority World contexts, Jon and Erica desire to train young leaders, explore innovative forms of ministry, teach the Word, share the gospel, and seek justice for the oppressed. Using their passions for leadership, teaching, humanitarian efforts, and marketplace ministry, they long to turn the hearts of God's people toward a Great Commission lifestyle. Together, they are excited to plant The Awakening’s International Base in Los Angeles, California, where they will focus on building young leaders, providing missions opportunities, and networking with ministry organizations and IPHC churches.

  • Justin Long

    International Base – Hungary (CAREER MISSIONARy) 

    Justin, originally from North Carolina, is an Emmanuel College graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in History. After his first international mission trip to Nicaragua at the age of 17, Justin developed a deep desire to serve in missions. Justin joined The Awakening in 2019 and is honored to serve as part of the Hungarian Base staff. A burden for difficult countries and unreached people groups pushes Justin to look for non-contemporary methods of ministry to ensure that no matter where he serves, everyone is afforded a chance to hear the Gospel. Justin hopes to use his love for culture, travel, photography, and a close knit community in any and all ministries that he is a part of.

  • Rachel Schwartz

    International Base – Hungary - (CAREER MISsIONARy) 

    Rachel Schwartz is a graduate of Southwestern Christian University with a Bachelors in Psychology. Her love for missions comes from her childhood in Belgium as a missionary kid with the IPHC. Rachel has a heart for urban cities throughout Europe, especially those with no sole avenue for receiving the Gospel. She also has a burden for mental health and plans to use a career in counseling as a means for ministry. Rachel is experienced in leading mission trips, administrating internships, organizing youth conferences, and working in local church planting.

  • abigail and Mariano Silva

    International Base – aRGENTINA

    Abigail Yates is originally from Lexington, Kentucky and has a degree in Intercultural Studies from Southwestern Christian University. Abby heard God's call to missions at a young age and eventually joined The Awakening family in 2015. Feeling drawn to South America, and desiring to see lives and communities transformed by the gospel of Jesus Christ, Abby eventually spent a few months serving in Argentina through On My Way and is now an Awakening staff member serving the International Base in Argentina.

  • Blake and Kaley Blackwell

    Midwest Base - Oklahoma City, ok

    Blake grew up in Tuttle, Oklahoma and Kaley is from Dickson, Tennessee. Blake and Kaley met at Southwestern Christian University where they both graduated with bachelors degrees. They have both served the church in various capacities and currently serve as children's pastors in their local church. Blake and Kaley lead our group of traditional interns at SCU and are passionate about leading the coming generations.

  • jORDAN wALLUM

    eAST cOAST bASE - fRANKLIN sPRINGS, ga

    Jordan Wallum joined the Awakening in the summer of 2020 for our Missions Intensive week. The next year she joined our Summer Internship. The NEXT summer she joined us as a leader. Jordan attended Emmanuel College where she graduated and is now working full time. She oversees our East Coast Base and is passionate about missions and discipleship.

  • Adam Presley

    Graphic Design Specialist

    Adam is an Emmanuel College graduate with a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design and a minor in Digital Media Production. Although he grew up in Wales, Adam got involved with The Awakening's Summer Internship in 2015. Since then, he has been a traditional intern at Emmanuel College. In 2019 Adam joined the team as staff, using his creative brilliance and heart for missions to help this generation spread the gospel to the least, last and lost. 

  • ellizon and stephany torres

    MINISTERIOS HISPANOS  TEAM LEADERS – USA

    Ellizon and Stephany joined the Awakening to serve as a bridge to our IPHC Hispanic Ministries in the USA. As Hispanic youth themselves, they are passionate about connecting future Hispanic generations to their calling in ministry and in the mission field. They are currently living in Dunn, North Carolina where Ellizon works in video production and Stephany teaches mathematics at a Christian high school. Together they both serve as local church ministers of the NCIPHC. They serve in different ministries such as media, worship and middle school ministry at their local Hispanic church in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

  • Josh and Ashlee both graduated from Emmanuel College where they met and married in 2016. In 2018, they joined The Awakening Staff at Emmanuel excited to have an opportunity to mentor college students in a larger capacity. Josh passionately loves people from all nations, which is the heartbeat of the gospel, and wants to see young people fulfill God’s plan for their lives. Ashlee is a seasoned mentor with a heart for worship and discipleship, she desires to see the next generation ignited for what the Lord is doing around the world and help them figure out how they can be a part.
